PSLE Math · Singapore
The PSLE Math paper is scored in AL bands, and bands are won by method, not memory. At Genius Plus Academy we train the "Lock & Key" method across all 10 PSLE question types, with a worked solution and video for every PSLE Paper 2 question. Small classes (max 8), every lesson recorded, taught from our own in-house books.

How the PSLE Math score works
The PSLE specialists
Why method beats memory at the PSLE
Most questions in the PSLE look unfamiliar but test a structure your child has met before. A child who has only memorised worked answers freezes; a child trained to read the structure and pick the method keeps moving. That recognition is the whole game, and it is exactly what we drill.
The lock is the question's structure; the key is the matching method. Read the lock, pick the key, solve cleanly, trained across all 10 PSLE question types until it is a reflex.
The bar model plus the Big 5 heuristics (work backwards, before and after, guess and check, pattern spotting, simpler case) are the Paper 2 grade separators. We draw them until the structure is visible.
The real fix for "careless" marks: a question-compliance pass, a reasonableness pass, then an arithmetic audit. Trained until it runs on its own under exam time.

Your child trains from a complete, in-house curriculum, we write and publish our own, 60+ textbooks and 40+ workbooks, refined over eight years of classroom use. The topic workbooks drill the exact structures the PSLE keeps testing, not a generic resale assessment book.
See how we write our materials →The worked-solution moat
An answer key tells a child they were wrong. It never shows them the thinking that would have got it right. So for every PSLE Paper 2 question we record a worked solution and a teacher video, the lock named, the key chosen, the bar model drawn, step by step.
What 14 years of papers tell us
We tagged 709 PSLE Math questions across 2012 to 2025, six ways each, then counted. It is how we know which structures to drill and where marks really leak, rather than teaching by hunch. These figures describe papers already sat, so they are honest analysis, never a prediction of the next exam.
Geometry, Area & Perimeter and Volume & Rate have each appeared in every Paper 2, fourteen years running.
Geometry is the single most-tested structure of the decade, more than one question in five.
Fractions leads the whole paper, and turns up in every single one of the fourteen years.
Paper 1 and Paper 2 average difficulty. They are almost different exams, and we prepare for both.

"When my daughter got AL5 in her P6 SA1 Math exam, I was desperate. Ms Eileen responded promptly and even requested to see my daughter's test paper first. Just 2 months later, my girl improved to AL3 in Prelims, and eventually scored AL1 at PSLE."
Across recent cohorts, 86% of our P6 students improved by 2 AL grades or more within a year, and 61% improved by 3 AL grades or more.
Based on GPA's internal tracking of recent cohorts; individual results vary with each student's starting point and effort.
"We found this centre via Google. My child made improvements quickly and now looks forward to the lessons. The tutors follow up with feedback after every school exam. Huge kudos to Mrs Toh and the entire teaching team for their commitment!"

The exact structures we train, with a worked example for each. The fastest way to see how your child can stop guessing and start recognising.
Start by finding out where marks are actually lost, then close that specific gap. We diagnose on a real paper to see whether the issue is a concept gap, a wrong set-up or careless slips, then train question-type recognition with the Lock & Key method, the bar model, the Big 5 heuristics and the 3-Pass Checking Protocol. Volume of practice helps only once a child knows what to practise.
PSLE Math is graded in Achievement Levels (AL1 to AL8) rather than a raw rank, and that single Math AL feeds into the overall PSLE score. The subject is split across Paper 1, which rewards clean speed, and Paper 2, which rewards structured problem-solving. The two papers behave almost like different exams, so we prepare for both. You can model the bands with our PSLE AL score calculator.
Usually not, but the honest answer depends on the gap. We start with a diagnostic on a real paper to see what is actually going wrong, then recommend the lightest plan that fixes it. Hong's daughter went from AL5 at P6 SA1 to AL1 at PSLE; sometimes weekly classes are enough, sometimes the Intensive. We'll tell you what we genuinely see.
They are the recurring problem structures that show up across PSLE papers, the structures our 14-year analysis keeps surfacing, from fractions and ratio to geometry, area and perimeter, volume and rate. Rather than memorise answers, your child learns to read the structure (the lock) and pick the matching method (the key) across all 10 types. The free cheat sheet above walks through each one with a worked example.
Fees depend on the programme and format (weekly classes, the Intensive, TYS, Mock Exams, online). We give you a clear, itemised quote at the diagnostic consult, with no obligation. Financial assistance is available case-by-case for families with genuine need.
