Primary Math Tuition, built to click

At Genius Plus Academy, primary math from P1 to P6 is taught as one continuous system, not six disconnected years. We start with a diagnosis, build the Five Capabilities every strong primary mathematician needs, and teach from our own in-house books. Small classes, every lesson recorded, founder-led by ex-MOE teacher Mrs Eileen Toh.

What "one system" means

  • Diagnosis first: we find where marks actually leak before we add a single worksheet.
  • The Five Capabilities: the same skills, deepened year on year from P1 to P6.
  • One curriculum: every level taught from the same in-house books, so nothing falls between the cracks.
  • Smaller for the youngest: P1 to P2 capped at 4, P3 to P4 capped at 6, all primary at most 8.

How primary math is taught here

Six years, five capabilities, one continuous build.

Primary math is not a pile of topics to memorise. It is a set of capabilities that compound. We name them, train them deliberately, and carry them from P1 right through to PSLE so each year stands on the last.

Foundation Fluency & Process Discipline

Number sense that is fast and accurate, plus the habit of showing clean, mark-visible working. The base every later capability stands on.

Startability & Structural Recognition

Knowing how to begin a problem instead of freezing, and reading a question to name the structure underneath it. This is where the bar model and the 4-Box Planner come in.

Exam Execution

Turning understanding into marks under time, including the 3-Pass Checking Protocol that catches the "careless" slips on questions a child actually knew.

GENIUSBOOK, Genius Plus Academy's in-house primary math textbooks

Taught from our own books, not a resale workbook.

Every primary level learns from a complete, in-house curriculum, we write and publish our own, 60+ textbooks and 40+ workbooks, refined over eight years of classroom use. The level-specific GENIUSBOOK covers each term; topic workbooks drill the exact structures primary math keeps testing.

The programme behind every level

Want the full-year weekly track that runs P1 to P6?

If your child needs a steady, year-round home for math, this is it: the same diagnosis-first system, every week, taught from our own books. Not sure if weekly is what your child needs? We will tell you honestly at the diagnostic, and if all they need is a lighter touch, we will say so.

Already a GPA student? You do not need to choose from here, your teacher will recommend exactly what your child needs.

AL6AL4across the primary year
"My child was scoring AL6 for Math in P6 Term 1, improved to AL5 in Term 2, then AL4 in Prelims. The lessons are cast on a huge TV screen so every student can see clearly. There are constant updates, recorded lessons, and so much support."
SL Tan, parent · more journeys on our results page

Across recent cohorts, 86% of P6 students saw an improvement of 2 AL grades or more within a year. Based on GPA's internal tracking of recent cohorts; individual results vary with each student's starting point and effort.

Primary math, questions parents ask

When should my child start primary math tuition?

There is no single right answer, it depends on the child. Some families start in P1 to build good habits early; others come in at P3 when word problems arrive, or P5 when the syllabus jumps. We start every child with a free diagnostic so we can tell you honestly whether tuition is needed yet, and at what level.

How big are the primary classes?

All primary classes are capped at 8, and the youngest are smaller still: P1 to P2 is capped at 4, P3 to P4 at 6. Every lesson is recorded for rewatching, homework is marked with personalised feedback each week, and 1-to-1 consults are unlimited at no extra charge.

What are the Five Capabilities you teach?

Foundation Fluency, Process Discipline, Startability, Structural Recognition and Exam Execution. They are the skills that separate a child who memorises methods from one who understands them, and we deepen the same five every year from P1 to P6.

Who teaches the classes, and do they use the same materials?

Genius Plus Academy was founded by Mrs Eileen Toh, a former MOE teacher with an M.Ed from NIE, who wrote the curriculum. Every tutor is trained in her method and teaches from the same in-house books. The system delivers the quality; the tutor delivers the system, so it stays consistent across levels and branches.

Do you offer a trial lesson?

Yes, a free trial lesson, one per child, starting with a short diagnostic. We usually reply within the hour. No pressure, no hard sell, we would rather you make a properly informed decision than a rushed one.
