P2 to P3 Math Bootcamp

Two days. One P3 topic. One marked paper.

In P3 the problem sums get longer and the working has to be shown. A P2 child who is comfortable with the number work, and has met one P3 topic already, knows what the teacher is doing from the first week.

Over two days at Coronation Plaza or on Zoom, Ms Cheng goes through the P2 ideas P3 builds on, teaches one P3 topic, and ends with a short paper marked the same afternoon, handed back with the tutor's written notes. The detailed topic list is confirmed closer to the date.

Why P2 to P3

The bar your child draws for a P2 word problem is the same bar P3 problem sums use.

A child who can already draw a simple bar for a word problem walks into P3 knowing what the teacher is doing.

Day 1 makes the P2 number and word-problem work solid, the way P3 will expect it. Day 2 opens one P3 topic so the new year starts on familiar ground, then a short paper marked the same afternoon shows you where your child stands. The detailed topic list is confirmed closer to the date and sent to registered families.

Day 1

The P2 ideas P3 builds on (confirmed closer to the date).

Day 2 morning

One P3 topic, taught the way P3 will teach it.

Day 2 afternoon

A short paper on the two days' work, marked the same afternoon, handed back with the tutor's notes.

Day by day

By the end of Day 2, here is what your child will have done.

Taught from our own in-house P2 and P3 materials, the same curriculum our weekly P2 and P3 classes use. The detailed topic list for this run is confirmed closer to the date and sent to registered families.

Day 1 · Mon 23 Nov · 10am to 3pm

The P2 ideas P3 builds on.

  • Day 1 topics: confirmed closer to the date. The P2 number and word-problem work is taught the way P3 will expect it, with a bar drawn for every word problem.

Day 2 · Tue 24 Nov · 10am to 3pm

One P3 topic, then the paper.

  • Headstart topic: one P3 topic, confirmed closer to the date.
  • Assessment and review: a short paper on the two days' work, marked the same afternoon, then the tutor goes through it with the class. Your child brings home the marked paper and the tutor's written notes.

By the end of Day 2 your child will have worked through the P2 ideas P3 builds on, met one P3 topic, and sat a short marked paper.

What you get back

You will see which questions your child got wrong, and why.

On the afternoon of Day 2 your child sits a paper on the two days' work. The tutor marks it the same afternoon. Your child brings home the marked paper and the tutor's written notes. The progress consult follows after the camp.

Your child's marked paper

Marked the same afternoon, so you can see the working for each question and where the marks went.

The tutor's written notes

The tutor writes down which question types your child can now do on their own, and one or two things to practise before P3.

A 30-minute progress consult

After the camp we sit down with you and go through the gaps and strengths we saw over the two days, where your child stands going into P3, and what to focus on in Term 1.

A school test tells you how many marks went. This tells you which ones, and why.

Who it suits

For P2 parents who want P3 to start comfortably.

This camp is meant for the P2 child who can do the sums but goes quiet when the sum is written as a story. If your child already draws a bar for word problems, our weekly class is the better fit, and we will tell you so if you ask.

The camp is a good fit if you:

  • want the P2 number work firm before problem sums begin;
  • want your child to meet one P3 topic before the class does;
  • want to see the actual marked paper and hear from the tutor where your child stands;
  • are new to Genius Plus and want to see how we teach lower primary.

Not sure? Send us your child's most recent P2 Math paper on WhatsApp and we will tell you whether this camp fits.

New to GPA

Your child does not need to have attended Genius Plus before.

Follows the MOE syllabus

Built on the MOE P2 and P3 syllabus, so it follows what your child did this year and what P3 starts with.

A word from Mrs Toh

"You plan for success. You do not wish for it."

One of my boys came home with 20 out of 30 for his Math weighted assessment and told me full marks was too far away for him. So I asked him: how far is 20 from 30? Very far, he said. Can you improve by one mark a day? Yes, he said, one mark is doable. Then how many days to 30? He thought about it. Ten.

Real life is harder than ten days, of course. But that is how I think about a child and Math. Our job as parents is not to panic. It is to find out which marks are going, fix one thing at a time, and let the small wins add up.

That is what these two days are for. At P2 I want two things: the child should like the sums, and draw the bar for every word problem. P3 builds on both. Ms Cheng teaches one, guides one, then lets them try one, and on Day 2 your child sits a short paper that she marks that afternoon. You go home knowing where your child stands, and where to start.

In parents' words

What parents tell us.

"When I fetch him from tuition, he's always very fresh and cheerful - that's one thing that I'm very surprised about. My son was always very happy. This part is really amazing."
A parent of a GPA student, shared with us
"When he reaches home, he's responsive in doing homework. I don't have to tell him. He even taught me the working steps shown to him in class. My son is actually teaching me what he learned!"
A parent of a GPA student, shared with us
"The children look forward to attending the lessons. They come back and they don't grumble."

Questions parents ask

When does the P2 to P3 Bootcamp run?

Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 November 2026, 10am to 3pm on both days.

Where is it held?

Coronation Plaza (587 Bukit Timah Road), or live on Zoom at the same fee.

What does it cost, and what is the early bird?

S$300 for both days, including lunch, the workbook and materials, the Day 2 paper marked the same afternoon, the tutor's written notes and the 30-minute progress consult. Register by 31 October 2026 and the 1-on-1 follow-up session (U/P S$200) and the P3 resource bundle (U/P S$60) are included.

What exactly is covered?

The P2 ideas P3 builds on, one P3 topic as a headstart, then a short paper and review. The detailed topic list is confirmed closer to the date and sent to registered families.

Who teaches it?

Ms Cheng, Primary Mathematics Tutor, a former practising accountant who founded her own tuition centre before joining Genius Plus.

Is it suitable if my child is not a Genius Plus student?

Yes. The camp is self-contained and follows the MOE P2 and P3 syllabus. No prior lessons with us are needed.

What if the run is full?

Seats are confirmed in order of registration. If the run is full by the time your form comes in, admin will tell you on WhatsApp and offer a Zoom seat.

How do I pay?

Register on the form. The confirmation page shows PayNow details (UEN and the fee) with your child's full name as the reference. Prefer card? WhatsApp admin for a secure payment link.

My child is a current GPA weekly student. Do we need to register?

No. Current weekly students are already in the Headstart as part of their term programme. No registration or payment needed; admin will WhatsApp you to confirm your child's run.

Can my child join on Zoom?

Yes. The camp is available live on Zoom, with the same materials and the same fee. Zoom participants sit the Day 2 paper at home during the session and send it to the tutor, who marks it the same afternoon.

What is the 1-on-1 follow-up session?

An early-bird extra (register by 31 October 2026): a 30 to 60 minute session with the tutor after the camp, at the centre or on Zoom at one of the time slots admin offers, to go through your child's marked paper and decide what to work on in Term 1.

Is 10am to 3pm too long for a P2 child?

The day has a lunch break, with lunch provided, and short breaks between topics, and the work changes pace: teaching, then guided practice, then trying it alone. Tell us on WhatsApp if your child has allergies or dietary needs. If you are unsure about the length of the day, WhatsApp us and we will talk it through.

After the camp

If the tutor's notes point to a gap, our weekly class carries on from there.

Our weekly P3 class uses the same curriculum, so your child continues from where the camp left off. The first lesson is a free trial.
